Our Story

Pettit Family Maple takes great pride in crafting the finest maple syrup products and for having gained a reputation of producing truly the best tasting maple syrup. As the years and seasons change, we strive to produce a quality product that we are proud to deliver to all that crave and appreciate the taste of wood-fired maple syrup.

There are many fond recollections throughout the generations of making maple syrup on a stack of cinder blocks and a flat pan in the back yard as maple syrup was cooked to provide for one’s family. It was in 2011 that young Kenny took this up as part of his FFA project in high school. Our operations and equipment expanded as we saw a need for a local producer that would treat people with respect and value working relationships. In 2018, we began buying sap from people in our area to go along with the sap that we collected from our 2300 taps.

In 6 short years, we have grown from cooking the sap collected from 3,000 taps to over 24,000 as the word has quickly spread about something special and refreshing happening at Pettit Family Maple.

This rapid growth led to a major expansion of our operation in 2022 with the purchase of a second evaporator and a building addition. We are now capable of cooking the sap from over 80,000 taps and are set for what the future may bring. The last two years, we have produced in excess of 4,000 gallons of maple syrup. We once had 2,300 taps on bags and in the last 4 years, we have eliminated the sap bags and replaced them with 3,300 taps on sap collection tubing systems.

Our goal is to have 10,000 taps of our own within the next 5 years and to be cooking in excess of 50,000 taps. We operate from our facility located at our home in Chili, Wisconsin that is nestled amongst the maples of our family forest. Maple syrup is cooked on one of two wood-fired evaporators, being a wood-fired 6’ x 16’ Intens-O-Fire and a 5’ x 16’ Sirroco wood pellet-fired evaporator from CDL.

At Pettit Family Maple, we are all about family and treating those that work with us as family. There are four generations in the sugar house each year as the vast knowledge of producing maple syrup is shared and passed on to each future generation. It takes a small army of family and friends to get through the maple season each year to help maintain the tubing systems, haul sap, cook the sap into syrup, filtering, bottling and unloading sap from the many people delivering to us. The atmosphere at our facility is like no other as we welcome everyone inside for ice cream and hot syrup right out of the cooker. Chairs are available to sit around and tours of the operation are given to anyone that desires. All are welcome!

We proudly have our products sold currently in Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Illinois.
